This was a heavyweight clash from the Third Round in 1998. Chelsea were the reigning cup holders, United the reigning league champions. It was also a time when people thought Ruud Gullit could make a good manager -- although here he leaves Gianluca Vialli on the bench in favour of Mark Nicholls.
