This is an updated tutorial to my previous one that I made a few years ago. This one is done in Windows 7 and explains what and what not to compress and reasons why.
Directions:
1) Click on "Start"
2) Click on "Computer"
3) Right click on the drive that needs more space
4) Select "Properties"
5) Under the "General" tab, click "Advanced..."
6) Check the box that says, "Compress contents to save disk space"
7) Click "OK"
